About Claus
What started out as a budding interest in 2009, has become an integral part of Claus Busch Risvig’s life: collecting art. Driven by an avid curiosity, the Danish collector is constantly on the lookout for new emerging contemporary artists. Be it in the virtual sphere or in real life, at a small local pop-up exhibition or at one of the most established art fairs of today, Claus believe in art as a means to question status quo, both in his own life as well as in society at large.

Claus Busch Risvig has worked as a community manager at Artland since October 2016. In 2016, he served as a curator at CODE Art Fair, the first international art fair in Scandinavia, which took place in August 2016. In August 2017, parts of his collection will be exhibited publicly for the first time in a collaboration with Huset for Kunst og Design, Holstebro, Denmark.

Art collector Claus Busch Risvig’s top 3 pieces of advice to new collectors

With the growing presence of museums, collectors, galleries, and artists on Instagram and the exploding popularity of art fairs, there are lots of different ways to discover new art, but where does one start? Here, Danish art collector Claus Busch Risvig shares his top 3 pieces of advice for young collectors.

1. Get started by going to a lot of exhibitions, both at galleries and museums and try to read some books about art history. This will give you a good idea of which type of art you like and probably make the buying process easier.

2. Do your research. When you find a piece of art you like, go home and do your research, try to find out everything you can about the artist, which galleries he/she is shown at, is he/she in any known collections etc. This will also help you make the right decision.

3. Buying prints can also be a good way to get you started collecting, they are inexpensive compared to unique pieces of art and it is possible to get works from wellknown artists that way.
